Martha Lowe is a multidisciplinary artist from Richmond, Kentucky whose practice spans fiber arts, acrylic painting, and ceramics. She earned her BFA in Art Studio from the University of Kentucky in 2024 and has recently relocated to Louisville to expand her studio practice and work as a ceramic artist and designer with Hadley Pottery.
In this series of acrylic paintings, Lowe distills the human figure into rhythmic lines and radiant fields of color. The works presented echo a language of icons or signs, yet remain deeply personal. Each composition becomes a meditation on self-perception, intimacy, and the shifting boundaries between inner and outer life.
By pairing bold, graphic contours with soft gradients and layered hues, Lowe invites viewers to experience emotion as something simultaneously private and shared. Her canvases function less as literal portraits and more as spaces for reflection, where color and form open a dialogue about identity, connection, and presence.
