Soreyda Benedit-Begley is an arts and culture activist who blends her background as a garment worker, fashion designer, and performance artist with community organizing and advocacy. Her wearable works of art have graced runways, galleries and publications across the country and internationally. Over the past decade, she has been an honored guest and speaker at institutions across the bluegrass and beyond, speaking to the urgency of social change and environmental sustainability. She is currently studying Political Science and African American studies at Berea College. In the next phase of her work, Soreyda plans to write legislation that improves the lives of working artists as well as making the arts more accessible.
